1. Controller and scope
Pocket Wisp is operated by GlobalHashtag. For the processing described in this policy, GlobalHashtag is the controller unless a third party is independently acting as a controller under its own privacy notice.
This policy applies to the Pocket Wisp app, related support communications, and product pages that specifically link to this policy. It does not replace the privacy notices of Apple, Google, Google Play, RevenueCat, Google Gemini, or other third-party services that may process information under their own terms.
2. Information processed by the app
Depending on the features you use, Pocket Wisp may process the following categories of information:
- Photos you take or select, which are sent to our server for AI analysis to generate wisp characters. Photos are processed transiently and are not stored on our servers after processing is complete.
- Wisp profiles, stats, chat history, and collection data stored locally on your device.
- Preferences and settings such as theme, notification choices, and haptic feedback preferences.
- Purchase and entitlement information needed to support Premium subscriptions, coin purchases, and purchase restoration.
- Push notification tokens used to deliver care reminders about your wisps.
- Crash diagnostics and limited support records when you contact us or enable diagnostic reporting.
3. AI processing and photo handling
When you create a wisp, your photo is sent to our server, which forwards it to Google Gemini for AI analysis. The AI generates a character profile (archetype, colors, personality) and an image based on the analysis.
Photos are transmitted securely and are not retained on our servers after the wisp generation process completes. We do not use your photos for training AI models. Google Gemini processes the photo under its own terms and data handling practices.
4. How Pocket Wisp uses information
- To generate unique wisp characters from your photos using AI.
- To maintain wisp stats, care history, chat messages, and collection state on your device.
- To deliver push notifications about wisp care needs such as hunger, mood, and energy.
- To verify purchases, restore entitlements, and operate Premium and coin features.
- To detect bugs, investigate crashes, improve reliability, and respond to support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, and protect users, the app, and our business.
5. On-device data
Pocket Wisp stores wisp profiles, stats, chat history, items, themes, and preferences locally on your device. This data is not transmitted to our servers during normal use.
If you uninstall the app, locally stored data may be removed, subject to platform behavior. Pocket Wisp does not currently offer cloud backup for wisp data.
6. Third-party providers and recipients
Pocket Wisp may use third-party providers to support app operations, including the following categories:
- Apple and Google platform services for app distribution, billing, notifications, and device features.
- Google Gemini AI services for photo analysis, wisp image generation, and chat responses.
- Cloudflare for API proxy, rate limiting, and server infrastructure.
- RevenueCat for purchase entitlement state management and purchase restoration support.
- Expo push notification services for delivering care reminders.
- Email and customer support tools that may process information you send when contacting support.
These providers may process categories such as purchase records, app diagnostics, device or service identifiers, and support correspondence needed to provide their services.
7. Notifications
If you grant notification permission, Pocket Wisp schedules local reminders when your wisp's stats approach critical levels. Notification tokens may be processed by Expo push notification services.
You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.
8. What we do not use your data for
- We do not sell your photos or wisp data.
- We do not use your photos for AI model training.
- We do not retain photos on our servers after wisp generation.
- We do not display advertising in the app.
9. Permissions and device access
Pocket Wisp may request permissions such as camera access for taking photos, photo library access for selecting images, and notification permissions for care reminders. These permissions are used only to support the wisp creation and care experience.
10. Legal bases for processing
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that requires a legal basis for processing, we generally rely on one or more of the following:
- Performance of a contract or steps requested by you, for example to generate wisps or restore purchases.
- Legitimate interests such as securing the app, preventing abuse, supporting reliability, and responding to support inquiries.
- Consent, where we ask for it under applicable law or platform policy, including for camera access and notifications.
- Legal obligations, where processing is required to comply with applicable law, lawful requests, or accounting duties.
11. Retention and deletion
You can delete individual wisps or clear local app data from within the app. You can also uninstall the app, which may remove local data stored on your device, subject to platform behavior.
Third-party providers may keep their own records for longer periods under their own policies and legal requirements. For example, purchase records and crash reports may be retained for operational, accounting, security, or legal reasons.
12. International transfers
We and our service providers may process information in multiple countries. If you are located in a jurisdiction that regulates international transfers, we will rely on the transfer mechanism required or permitted by applicable law, such as adequacy decisions, contractual safeguards, or other approved measures where relevant.
13. Your rights and requests
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights that can include the right to request access to personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, portability, and information about recipients.
If you are a California resident and the CCPA or another state privacy law applies, you may also have rights that can include the right to know, delete, correct, opt out of certain sale or sharing activity, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and receive equal service without unlawful discrimination for exercising your rights.
To submit a privacy, deletion, correction, access, or objection request, contact support@globalhashtag.com and identify the product involved and your country or state where relevant.
14. Children
Pocket Wisp is not directed to children who cannot validly consent under applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us in a way that requires action, contact us and we will review the request.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or changes in providers or processing practices. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page.
